Define Names

Cell ranges which are used often can be assigned descriptive names for easy reference in formulas. To define a cell range: select the range of cells then go to the Insert menu choose Names then click Define,
or use the menu shortcut: hold down Alt and press I N D

In the Name: textbox type a name for the range
The scope determines if the range will be valid for the whole document (Global) or individual sheets.
Range options allows you to define the area as a print range, a repeating column or row, and for use in an advanced filter.
Click Add to finish.
After defining a range it can then be used in formulas:

Names for formulas can also be defined. You can either type the formula into the dialog or copy it first and paste it into the Range or formula expression textbox

Choose a name for the formula then click Add
The name can then be used in place of the formula:

Defined names can be deleted or modified by using the Manage Names dialog. Press Ctrl F3 then click on the name you want to edit. modify it in the text boxes below, or click delete to delete it.
